Valle de Lecrin is secluded but not isolated. In this tropical valley in the province Granada , you are always close to nightlife, shopping, fine restaurants and other entertainment such as hiking trails for nature lovers, skiing, golf, horse riding etc. for the sporty, mountain climbing for the adventurous, and beach life for those who just want to take it easy.
For example, it is only 40 minutes to skiing in Sierra Nevada in one direction, and even closer to the beaches of Costa del Sol or a piece of world history and cosmopolitan nightlife in the exciting city Granada.
It was the Moors who gave the Lecrin Valley its name, “Valley of Happiness,” due to its breathtaking beauty and fertile soil, as well as the fact that the mountains surrounding the valley provided natural protection against enemies. They also founded several villages that have survived to this day, and Moorish history is present in both the culture and the ruins.
The Valle de Lecrin has always attracted artists because of its beautiful landscape with all its exotic colors and the exceptional light.
The weather in the area is very good! Valle de Lecrin has defined seasons and during the summer it is less humid and warmer than further down on Costa Tropical, and in winter it is warmer than further towards Sierra Nevada. The smell of citrus trees follows you wherever you go most of the year!
Thanks to the fact that the area has not yet seen a large influx of tourism, it is still very affordable to settle in or buy a holiday home here! The new motorway makes the villages in the valley even more attractive for those looking to invest in the perfect Spanish holiday home.
