About long stays in Marbella

Spanish Real Estate can offer long stays in the area via request. However, this concerns rentals for a minimum of three months, a maximum of six months at a time.

However, when it comes to long-term rentals for budget accommodation for families with children, for students or those who will be working in the area, it is more difficult. The key is to find something on the private market (see for example Blocket or Kyero etc.).

The market for luxury properties for rent is strong in Marbella, (Puerto Banus, Nueva Andalucia and Benahavis mainly). Marbella's coastline is almost 30 kilometres long. There are beaches in central Marbella, but the finest beaches for those looking for a pure sun and beach holiday are around Don Carlos, Puente Romano and Cobopino. The area is among the sunniest coasts in Europe, and it rarely rains between May and October. As is usually the case, it is summer heat even in April and November, and the winters are mild and relatively free from precipitation.

There are around 50 golf courses near Marbella . Most of them are world class. In fact, no other area in Europe can offer as many, and well-maintained, golf courses.

Shopping

There are several shopping centers in and around Marbella . However, the most fun is window shopping in the exclusive stores around Puerto Banus.

Celebrity and Jetset spotting

As early as the 1950s, the area began to be visited by European princes and wealthy businessmen. The golden age occurred in the 1960s when Marbella was perhaps the hottest party city on earth for the international jet set elite. In recent years, Marbella's position as a destination for celebrities has begun to strengthen further. It received a lot of publicity in the world press when First Lady Michelle Obama chose to spend her holiday in the city in 2010.

The food

As Marbella attracts affluent people from all over the world, it is only natural that the entire area has a range of restaurants that are of the utmost world class, with all the world's cuisines represented. Here there are a lot of restaurants that have received a star in the prestigious Michelin guide. We especially recommend that you take a trip to the nearby mountain village of Benahavis, known as the "dining room ofCosta del Sol."

About accommodation in Marbella and the surrounding area

The areas with the most affordable rental homes are: Elviria, from the eastern parts of Marbellaarea towards Estepona in the west. But there are also plenty of options in popular holiday areas and villages such as Mijas, Mijas Costa and Mijas Golf, Fuengirola, Benalmadena, Calahonda, New Golden Mile, Bel Air, Puerto de Cabopino, Sotogrande, Riviera del Sol, etc. In total, there are about a hundred areas, by the sea, in mountain villages, in the middle of town center and directly next to golf courses.

Ask for a quote and get lower prices

A tip for those who want to rent for a longer period of time and get the best prices possible is to write directly to the owner or booking company and ask for a quote. This almost always gives better prices. Especially during the winter months, even in the more popular areas (note, Booking has already pushed up prices so this strategy applies to smaller players).

• Write to the homeowner and state, in addition to the dates of your stay, how do you want to live, number of bedrooms and any other requests, such as if you want more than one bathroom, kitchen, etc.
• Specify which area you want to live in, or simply state your preferences such as "close to beach and city" or "secluded, preferably in a small village", or "by the golf course", etc.

• Check-in is normally after 5:00 PM in most places and check-out is before 11:00 AM.
• Please note that in most cases you do not need to clean the accommodation when you leave it (cleaning fees are usually included in the price ), and that bed sheets and bathroom towels, kitchen utensils, etc. should be available in each home upon arrival.

Most booking companies can also help with booking transfers to and from the airport, arranging welcome packs, renting a car, arranging daily maid service or setting up cots if needed, etc.

More about long-term rental of homes

• The trend is clear overall on Costa Del Sol , that tourists prefer to rent a home during their holiday rather than a hotel. You get more freedom in an apartment or a house, and booking a hotel in Marbella is many times more expensive than renting a home. But there are also many who want to try living for a longer period on Costa del Sol before deciding to buy a property.
• The range of accommodation in Marbellaarea ranges, as previously mentioned, from smaller studios to larger apartments and houses. You also have the option of renting luxury villa at reasonable prices for a longer period if you wish.

• Before you can rent a home for a long period of time, most operators require income certificate, as security for the homeowner.
• When you first move into a house or apartment, it is customary for you to pay one month's rent, plus a deposit of 1-2 months' total rent. However, this varies depending on the type of property and the overall rental costs for the property. The deposit is refunded the moment the home is returned in the same condition as when you first moved in. Any damage paid by the tenant.
• In addition to the monthly rent, the tenant pays electricity, gas and water bills. However, the tenant does not pay area fees or property taxes for the property.
