Travel guide to Benalmádena – a destination for the whole family
Benalmedena is a town in southern Spain located 11 km west of Malaga, between the cities Torremolinos and Fuengirola. Benalmadena is divided into three different parts. Benalmadena Pueblo is a part belonging to the original, typically Andalusian, village and which is located in the mountains, Benalmadena Costa is the city's coastal strip where you will find most of the hotels, and in Arroya del la Miel you can experience a wider range of activities thanks to all the bars and restaurants. In Arroya del la Miel you will also find the train station which can easily take you to Malaga or Fuengirola. If you are going further west (if so all the way down to Gibraltar) there are good bus connections.
As mentioned, Benalmadena is located close to Malaga, only 20 kilometers away, which makes it easy to get there. If you first get to Malaga by plane, you can easily drive from there to the city by car. There are many companies that offers rental and you can also pick up a rental car at the airport after you have landed.

The butterfly house is the largest in all of Europe and here you can see more than 1500 exotic butterfly species, while in Sealife you can study colorful fish, sharks, seahorses, sea turtles and moray eels in enchantment. It reaches a full 800 meters up and both from there and all the way there you are offered a miraculous view that you cannot take your eyes off. But it is not only on land that this area fills the visitor with wonder and exciting sightseeing. There is also much at sea that attracts both tourists and holidaymakers. In addition to beautiful sandy beaches and the constant Mediterranean Sea, there are also ports with exclusive boats. In the port Puerto Marina you will find the city's relatively luxurious port which is a real beauty and has a capacity for more than 1000 yachts and boats. That it has been appointed the world's best port twice is something you will understand when you visit it in person. The reason for the award is largely due to the beautiful architecture which consists of a kind of mix of Arabic, Andalusian and Indian buildings which are combined in a fantastic way. It is really worth a visit here to enjoy the atmosphere. If you are here on holiday with friends, you can return to this port later in the evening to experience the city's nightlife. Beach guide and activities Benalmádena

Benalmadena's beaches are almost 10 kilometers long and attracts many visitors who are keen on beach activities. Due to the long stretches, these beaches are excellent for beach walks, which allows you to see what all parts have to offer and get an educational overview of nature and the coastline. On the beaches you can choose whether you want to relax with a book in a quieter bay or if you prefer to be active. Many families move towards Carvajal Beach as this is very child-friendly and invites you to activities. There are also beach bars and restaurants for parents or when the stomachs start to growl. You can therefore spend a whole day here without any problems. It may also be worth taking a walk along the 700 meter long beach Malapesquera beachThanks to the beach's relatively central location, you can easily get here on foot and here you can enjoy your sun holiday with all the benefits of the accompanying sun loungers and parasols.
If you are in the city, you can easily walk down to the beach Torre Bermeja BeachThis 600-meter long sandy beach offers a variety of activities such as windsurfing, volleyball, jet skiing and much more. So if you want to get away from the shore a bit, you can book one of these water sports and test your luck on the waves.
In addition to discovering what nature and all the attractions have to offer, we also recommend eating your way through the culinary offerings. All parts of the city offer plenty of various restaurants which are worth a visit. Both Andalusian and international cuisine are well represented here. You will find plenty of restaurants both in the city, along the beaches and by the port. Top 10 restaurants according to Tripadvisor users. We recommend that you rent a car to easily get around the city to vary your excursions and take the opportunity to test what each corner has to offer. If you want to expand your horizons even further, it is easy to get out to surrounding cities.
Benalmadena also has Costa del Sol's only ice rink, where (of course) Swedes living in the area play ice hockey. However, the ice rink is mainly popular with children who want to try skating. There is something special about being able to skate and swim in the sea on the same day.
After a long day of sightseeing, many people want to retreat to their accommodations to rest up for a new day of exploring. But for those nocturnal souls who are eager to experience the nightlife in Benalmadena, there are plenty of options. If you feel like challenging yourself, you can head to the casino which is located in town. Otherwise, you can head down to the harbor, which always guarantees a fast-paced nightlife. In the marina's hippest bars, you can sit and enjoy drinks and socialize for hours until the sun rises again. If you're a real party person, you can let the nights go long here - the bars are open until late, very late.
