Torre del Mar – guide to one of the Spaniards' holiday favorites

Torre del Mar on Costa del Sol has long been a popular holiday destination for Spaniards, but for some strange reason has been under the European radar, although that has changed more and more recently with a greater influx of international tourists and after the Corona crisis, searches for apartments and houses in Torre del Mar are increasing significantly. Prices are simply lower there than in resorts such as Nerja, Marbella or Malaga. Subscribe to our newsletter for the eastern Costa del Sol (Nerja, Torrox etc) and Costa Tropical here. The newsletter concerns homes for sale, not rentals.

Tourism is at its most frenetic in July and August, the rest of the time is a bit calmer, but nowadays people from all over the world live in the city. This is also a place that is recommended for those who want to be busy all year round.

Until the 70s, Torre del Mar was a sleepy little fishing village, which has left its mark on its soul. The town is now a very attractive mix of residential area and holiday village. The atmosphere is relaxed, but there are still all kinds of activities on offer at the beach for those who are interested. And the restaurants and bars etc. are adapted to the tastes and preferences of the Spanish residents and Spanish tourists. Here, small, cozy chiringuitos reign over McDonald's. Torre del Mar is also known for its culinary specialty in the form of fried fish.

Torre del Mar's beaches are known for their cleanliness and beauty and stretch for 4 kilometers. Very close by is Caleta de Velez and its large and beautiful marina. A must visit!

Although Torre del Mar is a quiet town most of the year, there are plenty of bars and discos. The most popular bar area is called The Cup where people arrive from all over Andalusia to party on Friday and Saturday.

The surroundings around Torre del Mar are well suited for hikingr, and it is very popular to stroll around the city's mountain environments.

There are 2 golf courses in the immediate area. The closest is the popular Baviera golf (which has also just launched a new gastronomic initiative for those who want to eat extra well) which is only 2 km away.

The growing popularity of the area has contributed to the opening of international schools, sailing clubs, shopping town center , etc. We recommend Torre del Mar for both tourists and those who want to settle down Costa del Sol.
