Rush after bank repossession on Costa del Sol Spain

Torre del Mar In recent weeks we have posted some bank withdrawals on our website as examples of what is available from the bank we work with. Last weekend we organised viewing and it was a real buying frenzy! This time it was mostly Spaniards who bought as they were quicker to act and as they are offered 100 percent financing. However, foreigners can get 60 percent, so if you have deposit and can act quickly this is a very good opportunity. There are a few apartments left on Costa del Sol and we hope to get some more bank repossessions in the future.

The fact that the Spanish are buying homes again is a very good sign for those who want to sold their homes on the coast. However, it is not as good a sign for prospective buyers who are waiting for prices to fall further on Costa del Sol. They are not. If prices move in any general direction during the year, it is upwards.

According to new statistics from Banco de Espana, sales of homes to foreigners in Spain increased by 23.4 percent last year. This dramatic increase means that they are even back at the same level as in 2006. However, Spaniards themselves were bad at buying homes last year according to the same statistics. But if that is also turning around now, a general price increase in the housing market is to be expected soon.

As mentioned, the prices for non bank-repossessed listing are also very good and interest in 2012 has been high and the market has started to move significantly (interest started to increase already last winter). We expect that in the coming months the most affordable properties in Nerja and the surrounding area will continue to be taken up at a significantly higher rate compared to recent years. What effect this will have on prices at the end of the year is difficult to say. It mainly depends on the type of property you are looking for (it is mainly the budget segment that is taken up first).
