Torre del Mar - guide to one of the Spaniards' holiday favourites

Torre del Mar on the Costa del Sol has long been a popular holiday destination for Spaniards, but for some strange reason has been under the European radar, although that has changed more and more lately with a greater influx of international tourists and after the Corona crisis increases searches for apartments and houses in Torre del Mar significantly. Prices are simply lower there than in places like Nerja, Marbella or Malaga. Sign up to our newsletter for eastern Costa del Sol (Nerja, Torrox etc) and Costa Tropical here. The newsletter concerns homes for sale, not rental.

Tourism is at its most frenetic in July and August, the rest of the time is a bit quieter, but nowadays people from all over the world live in the city. This is also a place that is recommended for those who want life and movement all year round.

Until the 70s, Torre del Mar was a sleepy little fishing village, which characterized its soul. The city is now a very attractive mix of residential area and holiday village. The atmosphere is relaxed, but there are still all kinds of activities on offer at, for example, the beach for those who are interested. And the restaurants and bars etc. are adapted to the likes and tastes of the Spanish residents and Spanish tourists. Here, small cozy chiringuitos rule over McDonald's. Torre del Mar is also known for its culinary specialty in the form of fried fish.

Although Torre del Mar is a quiet town most of the year, there are plenty of bars and discotheques. The most popular bar area is called El Copo where people arrive from all over Andalusia to party on Friday and Saturday.

The surroundings of Torre del Mar are well suited for hiking , and it is very popular to stroll around the city's mountain environments.

There are 2 golf courses in the immediate area. The nearest is the popular Baviera golf (which has also just started a new gastronomic venture for those who want to eat extra well) which is only 2 km away. away.

The area's growing popularity has contributed to the opening of international schools, sailing clubs, shopping centers, etc. We recommend Torre del Mar for both tourists and those who want to settle on the Costa del Sol.
