Malaga is in an expansive phase
Global technology giant Google opened a 2,500 sq m cybersecurity centre near the popular Muelle-Uno tourist port promenade last year. World-renowned firm Ernst & Young also recently announced the transformation of its “Excellence and Technology centre” in the “Malaga Technology Park” into a hub to reach clients worldwide as it plans to hire an additional 500 professionals initially and potentially as many as 2,000 additional employees over the next few years.
US investment bank Citi has just hired 30 junior analysts for a new office in Malaga and prominent leading technology advisory and investment firm GP Bullhound, co-founded by Swede Per Roman, recently announced:
“At GP Bullhound, we are launching a new town center for excellence and innovation based in Malaga, one of the fastest growing tech destinations in the world.”
The attractive lifestyle combined with the relatively low salaries, compared to other major cities in Europe, is an obvious attraction for companies eager to offer employees a high standard of living, in order to better attract and retain talent.
Malaga's mayor, Francisco de la Torre, reported on July 22 that 61 foreign companies have opened offices or expanded in Malaga since 2019, creating around 4,800 jobs. Given everything else positive that has happened in the city in parallel (see the article about the Octavia project at the top of the article), Malaga is one of the most exciting cities in all of Europe for investors in the coming years.
