Competa is a typical Andalusian village with small whitewashed houses, steep streets and a peaceful atmosphere. The area is very beautiful and the nature reserve Casa de la Mira is the crown jewel.
In the heart of the village you will find the very fine old church of La Asunsion and the square. The village organizes several festivals throughout the year, including the popular Noche de del Wino (night of the wine) when you celebrate life with fine, flamenco, homemade sausages and singing until the wee hours. In the village there is also an interesting wine museum. The area is famous in Spain for its wines made from the muscatel grape.
