Frigiliana is a very beautiful and unique town perched high on the mountainside of the Sierra Almijara mountain range. The village is 300 metres above sea level, so it has a fantastic panoramic view over Nerja and the Mediterranean Sea. The whitewashed town has won both national and regional awards as “the most beautiful village in Andalusia”.
Frigiliana is located just 6 km north of Nerja and 50 km from Malaga.
When you arrive in Frigiliana it feels like you have traveled back in time. Here narrow, steep cobblestone streets wind around the whitewashed houses. The town is decorative with all the famous blue doors and iron balconies filled with red geraniums, lavender, jasmine, bougainvillea and other flowers. There are also little hidden gems scattered around the village where you can sit in a shady spot and enjoy the view and the beautiful landscape that brings to mind Tuscany. There are also small bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a bite to eat and try the locally produced wine. There are also small shops in the village where there is a varied range of products such as locally produced ceramics. Frigiliana's setting and surrounding scenic landscape have long attracted artists who settled in the village.
