Velez-Malaga is a historic town in the Costa del Sol located 4 kilometers from the sea. The city is the capital of the beautiful region of Axarquia.
The river Velez has made the area very fertile. Among other things, olives, vines and sugar cane are grown here. The Velez area is known for very high quality olive oils and wine.
Velez-Malaga has managed to stay free from tourist invasions. Many foreigners who want to move to a more genuine place on the Sunshine Coast have therefore become more and more interested in the city. There are an estimated 3,000 people living in Velez who do not have Spanish citizenship.
