When the Swedes started flying regularly to Spain in the 60s, it revolutionized our travel habits. However, the range was limited, the journey time long and the prices expensive. However, a lot has happened with flying, and above all with flight prices, since then. Many people nowadays feel that it is a jungle to find good and cheap airlines for their trip to Spain.

We have therefore put together an almost complete list of flights to Spain from Sweden during the year. There are now several cheap low-cost flights to southern Spain, such as Malaga. Direct flights as well as charters. It has never been easier and cheaper, after all, to fly to Spain.

What flight departures etc. look like in the wake of the Corona crisis was difficult to predict, but it was not as bad as feared. After a few years, the industry is already back towards record levels. In 2024, international flights to some Spanish airports will be more than ever.. Spain has been one of the least affected countries. It is rather the case that shares were taken from more long-distance destinations during the pandemic.

Tips for those who want to fly as cheaply as possible to Spain in 2024

  • Recently, the professor of economics, Claudio Piga, investigated the price of air travel for low-cost airlines (Ryanair, Norwegian, etc.) and concluded that the air tickets, on average, are the cheapest 10 days before departure. In the days before departure, prices increase by 50-75%.
  • Always pay for the trip with your credit card because most payment cards offer various travel insurances as a bonus. Among other things, you can receive compensation for delayed flights or luggage, as well as cancellation protection. With certain cards, you are even more insured. Ask your bank what your card covers.
  • Flying to your destination on a Friday and home on a Sunday is, as with most means of transport, the most expensive option. In addition, avoid public holidays for both the journey there and home.
  • Test two different low-cost airlines for your journey there and home. It can be worth it even if it becomes a little more awkward.
  • Don't be afraid of detours. For example, it can be worthwhile to fly via a stopover in Europe instead of a direct flight to Spain.
  • Factor travel costs and parking fees into the calculation for your trip to the airport you've chosen to fly from. For example, if you live near a smaller airport such as Karlstad or Örebro, it can be worthwhile with a flight seat from there, even if the flight prices are more expensive than in Stockholm or Gothenburg. Besides, it's never wrong to save time...
  • Be careful to check hidden prices that are added in the form of taxes, baggage fees, etc. This is especially true of low-cost airlines such as Ryan Air.
  • It is cheapest in April to fly to Spain (with the exception of Easter week)
  • And most expensive in February. But if you go in good time, you should be able to find good prices on tickets all year round.
  • The autumn trip (especially charters, the prices are halved compared to the high season during this period) is booked as the cheapest after the schools start again.
  • Most airlines release promotions in August and September.
  • Try different travel dates for your return ticket if you have the luxury of time. It can vary enormously in price.
  • Nowadays, you usually find the cheapest plane ticket the earlier you book your trip! Hoping for a really economical last minute booking for your plane ticket is therefore not to hope for too much.

All flights to Spain from Swedish airports in 2024

Malaga is becoming increasingly dominant. Since only a few years ago, Norwegian has routes from Växjö Småland Airport and Stockholm Skavsta directly to Málaga. There is also a new flight route from Stockholm Skavsta to Alicante.

Please note that the below list of flight seats from airports in Sweden to Spain does not include all charter flights, and is probably not completely complete as it is surprisingly difficult to get hold of a complete list of all flights in 2024 (it was even before the Corona crisis!) from Sweden by the Swedish Transport Agency. In addition, companies such as Ryanair and Norwegian constantly adjust their offer. In any case, the latter have decided to prioritize Malaga (where, among other things, they place an operational base post Covid) and Alicante, as well as flights within the Nordic region. Norwegian offers direct flights to Málaga from as many as thirteen locations in the Nordics, making it easy for travelers to reach this popular destination in Spain. The company is expanding and plans to have 82 aircraft before the end of the year and grow to 90 aircraft in its fleet by the year 2024. This means good news for travelers who want to visit Málaga and other destinations in Spain, as they can expect an increased range of flights from Norwegian.

ATTENTION! The list is constantly changing after Corona! It is currently more of an indication of where flights will depart from again when everything goes as usual. Expect new airlines, and even new airlines to appear at short notice for a long time to come.
