The typically Spanish – traditions and customs in Spain

Spain has beautiful people and traditions

Spain has long been Swedes' favorite country to visit and/or settle in. Admittedly, this has a lot to do with the climate, the sea and the cheap prices. But above all, it is the friendly people and their, somewhat pleasantly odd, traditions that have charmed several generations of Swedes. We therefore thought of compiling a list of some traditions and customs that are typically Spanish.

"Typically Spanish"

Flamenco is a very special style of music that sometimes also has elements of dance. This dance also involves dressing in typical Flamenco costumes.

The siesta is an institution in Spanish culture that is unfortunately weathering and collapsing in step with the influence of the stressful Northern Europeans. This is a great shame because there is more and more scientific evidence that a siesta, that is, a nap or just a slow dinner in the company of good friends, during the day does wonders for health.

Bullfighting has existed in Spain for over a thousand years and its birthplace is Malaga . It is true that some cities in Spain have started to ban bullfighting, but like the siesta it will always remain in some form as it is part of the Spanish soul.

Great festivals of all kinds occur several times a year in almost every Spanish town and city. No other people love to party and dance together for several days of delightful hysteria like the Spanish. Which unsought brings us to our next point:

Spanish nightlife is hectic, and the partying doesn't start until midnight and ends sometime into the wee hours. The capital city of Madrid is the stronghold of all party-crazy people . People call New York the city that never sleeps, which is completely wrong. It is Madrid that never sleeps. The Spanish are generally nocturnal people. When they started to adapt the working hours to the rest of Europe, i.e. that you start work at eight, the Spanish solved this cultural clash by simply sleeping less. The Spanish are Europe's night owls and according to statistics, sleep the least in the world.

Football is religion in Spain, and most interest revolves around the two great antagonists Barcelona and Madrid, regardless of where in Spain you live (the Basque Country is an exception, however).

Tapas is a small portion of food, which can be basically any dish.
The main thing is that you go from tapas bar to tapas bar and order each establishment's specialty. Read also: Cheap hotels in Spain Book flights online Find villas on the Sunshine Coast
