About Benalmadena
Benalmadena has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The area experienced remarkable development during the Muslim rule. However, its development came to an end after joining the Kingdom of Castile in 1485. The paper industry and viticulture got the local economy on its feet during the 18th and 20th centuries.
In the 21st century, Benalmádena has grown to become one of the main tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol, with lots of entertainment activities, such as a theme park, two aquariums, a casino, a cable car and one of the largest marinas in Andalucia.
From the airport there is a train to Benalmadena, with a journey time of around 15 minutes. There are thus many Europeans who want a weekend city in the sun who appreciate Benalmadena.
