2011 was a good year and interest in housing in Spain began to increase significantly again. We suspect that interest in investing in a home in Spain will continue to increase in 2012 as more and more people realize that the “uncertain times” are here to stay. One month the stock market goes up, the next month it goes down. Not much can be done about it.

Although we do not believe that the starting prices of houses and apartments will fall any further in the Spanish housing market in 2012, there will instead be a very favorable negotiating position during the year.

For us at Spanska Fastigheter it will be a very exciting year as we feel ready to take a few more steps forward. Among other things, we have tied up with a very large player with apartments and houses in Nerja and the surrounding area. This applies to both incredibly affordable rental as sales. Above all, this contract means that we can offer lots of homes for under one million Swedish kronor. This segment, that is, a somewhat spartan choice of accommodation but which is still ready to move in and is relatively close to the beach, is becoming increasingly popular among Swedes. It doesn't have to cost several million to find good accommodation in Spain anymore. There are bargain to do even for a smaller budget.

Two areas in Spain that we have not previously had time to address (but which we still receive some inquiries about) are: Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca coast and Canary Islands. We are currently expanding our portfolio in these two areas. In both cases, we are focusing on a slightly cheaper alternative in terms of the range of houses and apartments. From just under a million and upwards.

We have also launched a very affordable spa concept on Costa Del Sol. This is definitely a nice option for those who want to add a little extra luxury to their trip to Costa del Sol. We will also be launching a completely separate page with a spa stay at a luxury hotel in Malaysia this year. This spa hotel will definitely be something for those who are looking for a different holiday in mindless luxury.
